Cutting a Glass Bottle:
- Soak a piece of yarn in nail polish remover.
- Tie yarn around the bottle.
- Light the yarn with a lighter. and let it burn all the way around the bottle for about 10-15 seconds.
- Dip the bottle in cold water. Perfect split every time.
Note: be sure to wear safety goggles and gloves, just in case!!
You can invert the top of the bottle and fit it into the bottom piece. Before filling with dirt and planting, thread some oil-lantern wick thread the the top and down the bottle neck. This will absorb water up the into the soil, giving you a self-watering planter.
I love this idea for those used wine bottles or any interested bottle you might otherwise put in the recycling bin. Sounds super easy and look at the pretty results.
